We invite you to the event co-organized by the Varnavas Folklore Company of the Municipality of Marathon and the European Museum of Bread, as part of the celebrations for the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (UNESCO 2003), which will take place on 7 October 2023, at 17:00 p.m.
The event, which will be hosted at the Museum’s premises, aims to promote the “Art of embroidered bread in Varnavas of Attica” and is under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture.
Dr. Ioannis Karachristos, Principal Researcher at the Centre for the Study of Greek Folklore of the Academy of Athens and Katia Flevaris, holder of the Postgraduate Diplomas in “Studies in Education” and “Public History”, certified Adult Educator by EOPPEP, will speak. Then, experienced embroiderers from Varnavas community will demonstrate the art of bread embroidery.
