The enhancement of environmental awareness through art was the inspiration behind an experiential activity organized by the Varnavas Folklore Company at the Varnavas Municipal Nursery School in the Municipality of Marathon.
Children were introduced to nature not as an abstract concept, but as a living, breathing organism. Why should we embrace and cherish the forest and the natural world, our homeland, and our country? Because the memory of the deadly wildfire that struck Varnavas on August 11th last year is still fresh.
Together with their educators, the children participated in the activity “Nature Creates… Crafts from the Earth”, decorating wooden frames with natural materials such as leaves, branches, flowers, and more. Each frame became a unique piece of art, capturing the strength and beauty of nature — a decoration not only for their rooms but also a symbol of hope and renewal for the scorched parts of the forest.
The program is held under the auspices and with the support of the Ministry of Culture.
