The Varnavas Folklore Company of the municipality of Marathon and the European Museum of Bread, with the support and auspices of the Ministry of Culture, is carrying out the “Bread-armony” programme, which aims to bring people with limited mobility in contact with the process of creating bread and some objects/decorations from dough, through special activities and workshops. The project promotes the familiarisation of people with disabilities with body movements, encouraging the development of artistic skills. At the same time, it emphasizes spiritual development, relaxation and free creative expression.
The first stop of the action was the Foundation for the Care of People with Mental Retardation or Down Syndrome of the Archdiocese of Athens “Maria Kokkoris” at the “Athanasios Martinos 2” Supported Living House. . The volunteers of the Folklore Company of Varnavas, implementing the educational program “I learn about animals by kneading”, offer an educational experience that combines the exploration of the rich Greek fauna with creative activities with dough.
